In this card, a white, three tailed kitsune with blazing red wings (which symbolizes the blazing life-force of a person that endures past a physical death) and three tails (symbolizing past, present and future, or two opposites and a third symbolizing union) holds two clay jugs. One is marked with a water drop; the other marked with fire. The kitsune is pouring the two together in perfect proportions to create a unique blend of the two into a glass vessel. This merging of opposites is symbolized by the kitsune's background- a realm of fire and light sits alongside a realm of ice and shadows. Self-restraint and moderation creates temperance- and in the stillness of that energy is a point of balance. This card can indicate a need for balance or moderation in a situation for balance to be achieved- in situations with others, compromising or cooperating might be the way to go. Temperance assures us of good health physically, mentally and emotionally. Synthesizing two opposites into a functional, coherent new whole. This process may take time and patience and experimentation, but eventually balance is achieved.
